WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s battle to stay in Britain has infuriated multiple countries including Sweden, who says he’s belittled one of the world’s most respected justice systems and Ecuador, who says the U.K. is risking “suicide” if it storms its London embassy to arrest Assange.
Ecuador President Rafael Correa warns that entering his country’s embassy would leave British embassies open to the same violation of diplomatic protocol across the world.
Correa has not backed down in a war of words with the U.K., suggesting the diplomatic stalemate is far from being solved.
In an interview with Ecuador’s state television, he said Britain has refused to apologize for its threat to enter the London embassy and that “danger still exists.”
