Δελτίο ενημέρωσης του Αντίβαρου 25 Ιουνίου 2007

Χαίρετε,η παρούσα ανανέωση άρθρων είναι ίσως η πλουσιότερη στα έξι χρόνια ζωής του Αντίβαρου, που συμπληρώθηκαν πριν από έναν ακριβώς μήνα, στις 25 Μαίου 2007.

Το Αντίβαρο τέθηκε στο κέντρο της επικαιρότητας με αφορμή την πρωτοβουλία του για συλλογή υπογραφών κατά του βιβλίου Ιστορίας της Στ Δημοτικού. Δεν αλλοιώθηκε όμως η μορφή του και παραμένει ένα ηλεκτρονικό περιοδικό με στόχο την ενημέρωση. Οι δύο μεγαλύτερες πρωτοβουλίες του, το αφιέρωμα στο Σχέδιο Ανάν το 2004 (το πληρέστερο στο διαδίκτυο) και η συλλογή υπογραφών για απόσυρση του βιβλίου Ιστορίας, διαπερνούν ολόκληρο το πολιτικό φάσμα και συγκεντρώνουν υποστήριξη ενός ευρύτατου και πολυδιάστατου μέρους του.

Αποφεύγουμε την εμπλοκή με την πολιτική υπό τη στενή έννοια, όμως τα όρια είναι δυσδιάκριτα λόγω της φύσης του ζητήματος του εγχειριδίου ιστορίας. Έτσι, μετά την αδιαλλαξία της πολιτικής ηγεσίας του Υπουργείου Εθνικής Παιδείας και Θρησκευμάτων να αποσύρει το βιβλίο Ιστορίας, αναγκαστήκαμε να επιβεβαιώσουμε (με καθυστέρηση ενός μήνα) μία «απίστευτη δήλωση» της κ. Γιαννάκου που έγινε στο Λονδίνο στις 18 Μαίου 2007. Είπε λοιπόν η κ. Γιαννάκου ούτε λίγο ούτε πολύ ότι όσοί διαφωνούν με το βιβλίο Ιστορίας και με τη στάση της, να «μην ψηφίσουν Νέα Δημοκρατία στις εκλογές». Η δήλωση δημοσιεύθηκε στο Παρόν της Κυριακής στις 17 Ιουνίου 2007.

Η δημοσιοποίηση αυτή δεν έχει επ’ ουδενί στόχο να καθοδηγήσει ή να επηρεάσει τους αναγνώστες του Αντίβαρου, ούτε να αλλοιώσει τον χαρακτήρα του. Έγινε μόνο για να συνειδητοποιηθεί από την πολιτική ηγεσία το ενδεχόμενο πολιτικό κόστος του ζητήματος. Εφόσον δε φαίνεται να πείθεται από την πλήρη αποδόμηση του βιβλίου (σφοδρή κριτική στο περιεχόμενο, εκτενής παραβίαση του αναλυτικού προγράμματος, έντονες αντιρρήσεις στην παιδαγωγική, στη διδακτική μέθοδο, στη γλώσσα κλπ), ούτε από την πιθανότητα να αποβληθεί από την ίδια την κοινωνία (δασκάλους, γονείς, μαθητές), ας πειστεί από το πολιτικό κόστος.

Ακολουθούν τα νέα άρθρα στο Αντίβαρο καθώς και μία ανακοίνωση της Κίνησης Πολιτών για την Επαναφορά του Πολυτονικού Συστήματος, μίας κίνησης που αξίζει να στηριχθεί! Η ιστοσελίδα της είναι μία έξοχη δουλειά.

Open Letter to United Nations-Hellenic Electronic CEnter

  This letter expresses offense to the United Nations postponement of an exhibit on Genocide in order to appease the Turkish government over its refusal to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide, and to the

disturbing omissions of the Hellenic and Assyrian Christian populations of Anatolia that were

likewise targeted for extermination by Turkish nationalist and racist governments. Cancellation of the

exhibit in response to the outrageous demands of the Turkish government reflects very poorly on the

beginning tenure of the new Secretary General.

 Up to the present day, human rights abuses against Christian and Kurdish minorities, as well as

 democratic minded Turkish intellectuals continue to occur in Turkey. The ongoing persecution of

 the Greek Orthodox minority in Turkey, and the ethnic cleansing campaign against the Greek

 majority of Cyprus by the invading Turkish army in violation of the UN’s own Resolutions occurred

 because Turkish nationalist leaders were able to complete the Genocide and mass exterminations

 of Armenians, Asia Minor Greeks, and Assyrians without any discernible action on the part of the

 great powers who betrayed legal, democratic, and humanitarian principles for economic and

 imperialistic principles.

  We would like to express our shock and dismay that the systematic deportations and killings of

  unarmed civilian Greeks and Assyrians by the racist Young Turk government and its successor

  under Mustafa Kemal have been ignored. We are offended and outraged that the victims

  of the Pontian death marches were not considered for the UN’s Genocide project. Further, we are

  displeased that the Greek populations of Asia Minor, and especially Smyrna were not

  mentioned. The burning of the Christian City of Smyrna by the Turkish nationalists and the mass

  slaughter of Greek and Armenian Christians represents one of the darkest periods for humanity

  during the twentieth century. The subsequent forcible uprooting of over 1,000,000 Greek inhabitants

  from their ancestral lands in Asia Minor represents another aspect of the great powers aquiescence

  to Turkish nationalists and assisted the Turkish instigated genocide in cleansing the region of the

  majority of its surviving Christians.

   The omission of the Greek and Assyrian Christians, and the willingness to sacrifice recognition of

   the Armenian Genocide to appease Ankara demonstrates contempt for all three peoples whose

   members were expunged from humanity by those who adhered to the same fanatical ideas and

   ideologies that later inspired Genocide elsewhere.

   By surrendering to the demands of the Turkish paramilitary State which continues unhindered

   with its violations of human rights, and by ignoring the Greek and Assyrian victims, the United Nations

   is becoming an enabler of censorship and extremism on behalf of the ideological nationalism of the Turkish

   state which brought about the extermination of these peoples, and which remains firmly entrenched among

   the Turkish leadership today. We respectfully request that the United Nations proceed with its Genocide

   exhibit despite Turkish protests. Furthermore, we request that the United Nations, on the basis of

   academic and historical research, international law, and human decency, use the term Genocide

   to refer to the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek victims of the Turkish State.

EU Conference Calls on Turkey to Recognize Assyrian Genocide

Brussels (AINA) — Days before the restart of Turkish EU membership talks, the European Parliament hosted a conference where Parliament members, scholars and international experts agreed that Turkey must come to terms with the 1915 genocide before EU membership.

The heavily attended March 26th event was hosted by the European parliamentary groups, European United Left, Nordic Green Left, and the Seyfo Center, an Assyrian institution working on increasing awareness of the 1915 genocide of the Assyrians, as well as Armenians, and Greeks by Turkey. The panel speakers included:

• Sabri Atman, Director of the Seyfo Center
• Prof. David Gaunt, Södertörns University College, Sweden
• Markus Ferber, EVP-ED, Member of the European Parliament, member of leading German party

Το βιβλίο Ιστορίας της ΣΤ Δημοτικού αποτελεί το preludio σε οτι πρόκειται να ακολουθήσει σχετικά με την Ελληνική Ιστορία και την εξαφανιση της απο τα ιστορικά βιβλία.

Το 1989 με την πτώση των ανατολικών καθεστώτων γέμισε ο τόπος απο άρθρα του είδους «Ο μαρξισμος πέθανε»»Τέλος ο μαρξισμος και η πάλη των τάξεων» και παρόμοια λες και όλα σβήνουν επειδή κάποιοι το γράφουν.

Σήμερα ο στόχος ειναι να σβύσει η Ελληνική Ιστορία η να ΠΑΡΑΜΟΡΦΩΘΕΙ και να μην αναγνωρίζεται οτι ειναι ελληνική η να παρασιωπηθεί και να ξεχαστεί.

Ας δουμε λοιπόν μερικά στοιχεία αυτής της προσπάθειας και απο πού προερχεται η επιθυμία αυτή.

Who we are

The Center for Democracy and Reconciliation in Southeast Europe is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation that seeks to foster democratic, pluralist, and peaceful societies in Southeast Europe by advocating principles of social responsibility, sustainable development, and reconciliation among the peoples in the region. These goals are accomplished via seminars, conferences, research projects, exchange programs, opinion polls, and publications.

Alternative education materials

CDRSEE is creating teaching materials and developing an outreach programme as part of an ongoing Joint History Project for Southeast Europe. Teaching Modern Southeast European History, or the “History Workbooks” project is one of the initiatives under the umbrella of the Southeast European Joint History Project (JHP).

Joint History Project Successes

The Greek Language Edition:

On November 8th 2006, the Greek Language Edition of the History Workbooks was presented at the Foreign Press Association in Athens, to a distinguished audience of academics, diplomats, politicians and the press.

Costa Carras (CDRSEE Board Member responsible for the JHP) and Christina Koulouri (Academic Supervisor and Editor) headed up a panel of exceptional diversity and intellect, all of whom spoke eloquently about the importance of the History Workbooks to Greece and the region.

The panel comprised  Mr Nikos Georgiadis, MP (Nea Dimokratia), Dr Marilena Koppa, Assistant Professor, Panteion University of Athens and member of the National Council of Pasok, Professor Antonis Liakos, University of Athens and Professor Thanos Veremis, University of Athens.

The discussion that followed the speeches was moderated by Mr Pavlos Tsimas, Journalist.

The presentation was attended by 3 ambassadors and a large number of cultural attachés as well as teachers, journalists and Greek political and business figures. The response to the presentation was overwhelmingly positive, with an engaging discussion and many important points raised.

Immediately following the presentation, the CDRSEE received the positive news that the History Workbooks had been approved for use in secondary schools by the Greek Pedagogical Institute, a vital first step in receiving Ministry of Education authorisation. The Ministry is currently in the process of examining them and we anticipate a decision in early 2007.

Serbian Language Edition:

The CDRSEE implemented its first ‘Training of Trainers’ Conference in Belgrade between 1-3 of September.  15 specially selected teachers attended and gained and developed new skills with which to train teachers in the use of the History Workbooks.

With 93% of participants showing a definite willing to use the material in their classes and 100% noting that the Workbooks had a lot of positive aspects, the workshops was heralded as a success.

Having completed their training, the trainers will now go on to train other teachers and Serbia will be the first country in which the project is fully handed over to the final beneficiaries – the teachers and students of Serbia.

The first Local Teacher Training workshop took place in Niš, Serbia on October 21-22th with equally positive outcomes.  Energetic discussions, sharing of ideas, development of skills and mutual support were the underlying themes. The highlight of the event was a visit by the President of Serbia, Mr Boris Tadic who expressed his interest and support.

The next Workshop will take place in Novi Pazar, 25-26 November.
